Georgetown's Finest

Smith Point, an exclusive bar in Georgetown, was profiled by The New York Times recently as an inaugural party location. Interestingly enough, during Halloween I went to the bar and definitely noticed a WASPy, Republican elite crowd. It was a lot of fun nonetheless.

Well it's been a few months since the Bush Administration last requested more funding for troops fighting terrorism, so I guess they figured they better stir things up and request more funding. Please send the bill to Rupert Murdoch and Halliburton. Thanks.

Send me Prozac please!

Well, I made it through watching coverage of the inauguration. I did become emotional at times, but I'm still here. I'm just ready for this day to end. By the way, if you know where I can get Prozac, please let me know.

A note from Thomas Jefferson

"Rebellion to Tyrants is obedience to God" -Thomas Jefferson

Counter Inaugural Ball

Condi, You Prude Girl, You

I have to say, it was an absolute pleasure watching Condi Rice get railed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committe, but my fav. was Sen. Barbara Boxer. Barbs nailed her on everything from the tsunami to her integrity. Too bad she'll get confirmed anyway.

PS--I've got my outfit planned for tomorrow. Black wool pants, black Polo sweater, black Kenneth Cole shoes, black belt, my black Calvin Klein eyeglasses... and, oh yeah, my black backpack. I encourage the same attitude of mourning.

Lance not enough

For my fellow political junkies, there is a "Livestrong" of our own. Support the democrats? Count Me Blue is the place for you. Can't get enough Bush, Count Me Red is all about you.

Cool blog

After reviewing Yoni Cohen's comment, I've looked at his neat men's college basketball blogsite and decided it has earned my endorsement. So, I encourage all you college bball fans (the only real basketball, to observe http://collegeball.blogspot.com

Also, I found the unofficial, official UK men's basketball blogsite. When I first clicked on the link I heard the most amazing song...the UK FIGHT SONG!!!! It also has my endorsement. Check out The WildCat Blog.

Sen. Ted Kennedy...WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!?!?!

With all do respect, Senator, but what are you thinking? Bashing the Kerry campaign for their lackluster performance is one thing, but destroying the future of the party and butchering Senator Barack Obama's name is just criminal. Go back to Martha's Vineyard and get back to the bottle.

Fahrenheit 9/11 Garners People's Choice Award

Tonight at the People's Choice Awards Michael Moore's controversial film Fahrenheit 9/11 won favorite movie. Too bad that wasn't the trend on November 2...

Kentucky is in Mourning

Yes, it's true. The #8 University of Kentucky Wildcats lost to #2 Kansas tonight. I'm still bitter, and my throat hurts from yelling at the TV.

A Not-So-Perfect Match

Yes, it's official. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are through. After Pitt made public his desire to raise a family, and Aniston confessing she is more focused on her career than raising a family, their relationship will not continue. Hollywood's hottest power couple is over. One love Brad and Jenn.

Don't Cry for me...California

Barbara dear, we love your wit and enthusiasm and passion, but let's face it...you're four years too late! Remember, when you could have challenged the Bush v. Gore outcome, you didn't. And now, there are just no grounds for it. We'll get 'em next time! Put on a happy face, at least we've got Barack! wink wink

Jeb Bush 2008

Is it just me or is the Republican Party setting brother and Florida Governor Jeb Bush up for a 2008 presidential bid?

...apparently not

Forty Cent Fletcher

Ladies and Gentlemen, Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher has chosen to raise the cigarette tax in the state to forty cents. Is this really the thing we should be doing? The vast percentage of people who smoke in Kentucky are those with a lower income. Now, we are placing even more burden on lower and middle class Kentuckians.

I believe our state senators and state legislators can find a better way to produce revenue, and I am NOT talking about legalizing gambling. My red state home concentrates so much on "morals and values" and gambling certainly does not resemble values.

For a Governor who won with a platform of "not raising taxes" he certainly has failed to put on a good show.

Inaugural Post

Welcome to my very own blog!

My name is Carl, and I am the student body president at Mercersburg Academy hence the blog title. Aside from "ruling the school," I have an abundant interest in national politics. This blogsite will focus on politics, I will try to be "fair and balanced," but like FoxNews, I will most likely present a one-sided argument...I apologize in advance to you Republicans.

Also, I will have random postings regarding whatever I feel like. Please send your comments, I look forward to reading them ALL!

*ENJOY*
